18 Aralık 2025 Perşembe günü saat 18.30’da, Tayyare Kültür Merkezi’nde fotoğrafçı Sema Kahraman Vurucu ile “Kurtuluş’un Tatavla’sı” başlıklı bir söyleşi gerçekleşecek. Vurucu’nun projesi, İstanbul’un Tatavla (günümüz Kurtuluş) semtindeki tarihî ve toplumsal dönüşümü, özellikle 1887’de açılan ve 2003 yılına kadar eğitim vermiş olan Kurtuluş Rum İlkokulu gibi mekânları fotoğrafla bellek mekânlarına dönüştürerek derin bir görsel anlatı ortaya koyuyor. Bu uzun soluklu çalışma, semtin geçmiş izlerini bugüne taşıyan mekânların detaylarını incelerken, fotoğrafın hafıza ile kurduğu ilişkiyi güçlü bir biçimde ortaya koyuyor.
Toplumsal bellek ve mekân ilişkisini görsel bir dil üzerinden keşfedeceğimiz bu özel etkinliğe tüm fotoğrafseverleri davet ediyoruz.

On Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 6:30 PM, a talk titled “Tatavla of Kurtuluş” will be held at the Tayyare Cultural Center with photographer Sema Kahraman Vurucu. In this project, Vurucu explores the historical and social transformation of Istanbul’s Tatavla (today’s Kurtuluş) neighborhood, focusing on sites such as the historic Kurtuluş Greek Primary School — opened in 1887 and in operation until 2003 — and transforming these spaces into visual sites of memory. Through detailed photographic documentation, the work illuminates how remnants of the past continue to resonate within the contemporary urban fabric, revealing the deep connection between photography and memory.
